Home Sweet Home

We are in Atlanta - Michigan of course. Beautiful 73 degrees. We saw three elk this morning and lots of deer. On our way to dinner with our friends, Noreen and Tom. We are meeting in Mio at O'Briens where we went with Bill amd Amy and Jim and Jan.

We stopped at Ocqueoc Falls - the only officially recognized falls in the L.P. They are going to redo the trail to make it handicap accessable, so the parking lot was blocked off - we walked in and there were a few people and then they left and we had it all to ourselves.

If It Is Monday Then It Is Fun With Nana

It is a gray, rainy Monday. So no park today! But I found an easel at a garage sale and we are having fun. Ayva tells me to hold Bayboo (Sweet William doll) and she moves the rocking chair my Dad had when he was little over to the easel and makes herself at home.

Then we build castles with Joanna and Caroline's blocks - still stored in the old Stroh's beer heavy duty case. Now Javier is playing Santa Claus and he keeps bringing me presents from the toy cupboard. Now Ayva is giving us gifts. Thank yous and you're welcomes are flying through the room.

Now Javier brings me checkers that are cookies. Mmmmm. . .

Then Ritz cracker time - pudding time - then back to more pkay

Fun Mondays - life doesn't get any better than this!

Hartwick Pines

It was a busy bird morning at Hartwick Pines by Grayling. The two birds I posted pictures of I have never seen before. A Purple Finch and both the male and female Evening Grosbeak. I also spotted Nuthatch, Rosebreasted Grosbeak, Goldfinch, Hummingbird and a Black Capped Chickadee.

I love Hartwick Pines.

Family Secrets

So - since we were little there has been a family secret. Something to do with my Dad's cousin, whom we called Toad and my brother,Larry. I think my Mom, her best friend, Patsy, and my sister, Kathy knew the secret. Toad, Patsy and my Mom are laughing in heaven right now because I don't think the secret was even worth knowing, yet, we always wanted to know what it was.

Friday night a new secret was hatched. My sister, Jane and I burst out laughing (and I even laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes) at our childish behavior about 47 years ago! Each of us amazed that the other acted and thought EXACTLY alike over nonsense. So, this secret is between Jane, my Dad and M.E.

So now that we have our own secret to share the other secret doesn't even matter so much anymore! I love having a secret with Jane!

Let Me Explain. . . .

Kathy, Jane, Theresa, Sarah, Mary, Pat and I played Balderdash last night in the breakfast room at Comfort Suites.

We were laughing and having such a good time. Sarah was cracking us up especially when she wrote something and then went over to the current moderator saying"I just have to explain one thing." Some of the answers were so long they couldn't possibly be on the little game card!

The wedding weekend was so nice - the wedding so beautiful and filled with family. Kristina's family is so warm and welcoming, how wonderful for Brandon to become a part of that family.

Cash & Cari

We went to an estate sale put on by the team from Re*Purpose the store from the Cash & Cari (HGTV show) today in Novi. Then we went back to her store in Northville. It was set up so cute. Even though I didn't find anything to buy at either place it was well worth the trip.

Then we went for lunch at Le George - a small Greek restaraunt down the street - yum - everything tasted great.

Now we are on our way to a Tiger game with family from all over! FUN, FUN, FUN!

Lazy Day!

The sun is shining, the blue sky is a background for thick fluffy white clouds, the different shades of green from all the different crops are refreshing and the air smells fresh and clean after the storms last night.

Pat painted something in rhe basement and the fumes sent us out on a ride in the country. (As if we need an excuse!)

These cows are taking a break and enjoying the lazy morning just like us!

Father's and Mother's Day

Mary, Mom, Dad, Patrick and I went to Harvey's in Bay City. We couldn't get together before this and with Mary staying at their house for a bit we got to spend time with her too. It's always fun taking them for a ride because so many landmarks have changed over the years. What a nice night!

Dishes - Fun?

YUP especially at Nana's. We threw all the play dishes in the sink and Javie washed, Ayva rinsed. Then they switched places and Ayva washed and rinsed and Javie dried.

He kept asking her, "Ayva we are working like adults, do you like working?" Ayva would answer, "No Javie, I'm playing!"

We had such fun while Papa, Grandpa and Grandma Caroline went to play ball at a place where the playground is too far away from the ballfield. We went to Chester Miller to slide snd climb, then ran through the turtle sprinkler, then all the toys out of the cupboard, memory games on the Galaxy, peeking through the shelves going up the stairs giggling and saying "Hi Nana!". singing songs, playing the piano, snack - Cheezits and Sprite (I did offer healthy snacks!) Then into the kitchen to splash and have fun!

We have such a good time!

Favorite Grandma FB Entry

My friend, Robbin, who was a nursery school Mom with me had the best Grandma Facebook entry.

"Five year old Tyler said he doesn't like sloppy joes because of the onions. I suggested onions might make him toot, so he ate his entire sloppy joe as well as his sister's. And yes I was correct. . . . (Little boys do love their bodily functions!!)"

What fun!

Happy Father's Day!

Published with Blogger-droid v1.7.1

Happy Father's Day

First to my Dad - a quote from one of my favorite Touched by an Angel (Monica talking to a little boy whose father has died) "You didn't have him long but you had him long enough." Even though I was 12 when he died I have had a lifetime of memories and I always thought about him watching me from heaven and tried to do the right thing. He was the best.

Next - to my Mom. She had to be both Mom and Dad. She did a great job. I so appreciate all she did for us.

Then to my husband and one true love. He is the most wonderful Father. Dependable, loving, kind and generous.

And finally to my two favorite Sons-in-law. Both of you are very good Fathers. Your children and grandchildren love you. Your love is important and life-giving. We are blessed to have you both in our family.

Happy Father's Day!

Bubbles and Lightsabers

I think Jesse has as much fun blowing bubbles as the kids had smacking them with the lightsaber bubble containers.

Everyone came for dinner (except Sheala and Robbie who went to a planning meeting for their mission trip.) We had yummy food. Chicken Alfredo, Grandma Shea's (Elinor) fried chicken, squash soup, salad and corn on the cob.

Reading Random Blogs

I spent some time yesterday reading random blogs. (You can click on "next blog" at the top of most blogs and you can see other blogs. Sometimes I can see a pattern - sometimes not. Like when I click it on my friend's or my niece Ellie's it usually takes me to family blogs with twins. When I go from mine I see different blogs depending on what I have written lately.

Yesterday one was on diets. I read something that I have been thinking a lot about. It said if you get hungry - wear the hunger as a badge of honor. So I did that yesteray. Then when I awakened this morning I was hurting from the exercises yesterday. So I thought - why don't I wear the pain as a badge of honor? So I took my Advil, took a shower and added more exercises.

I have been keeping a journal - I type in a prayer every day to continue on this quest - it feels right. Keep on praying for ME!

Eternal Optimist

I follow just a few blogs - only my niece, Theresa, writes on a regular basis. It is funny how every time I go to them (Yes, on a daily basis!) I actually think there will be an entry. Now you have to understand some of these people have not made a new entry in over a year - but I so loved reading their blogs I just never give up hoping.

So, when I say I am on ANOTHER quest to lose weight and get back in shape you will understand when I say this time I mean it. I remember Aunt Bernice going on a diet every Monday morning. I now understand it.I have been exercising every morning for about a month.

So - I'll stay optimistic about this - but a few prayers might help.

Dumpster Diving!

Officially - we have become dumpster divers!

We went to recycle and there on top of the pile in the dumpster were tons of patterns - cute and classical designs. Butterick and McCalls - size 12-18. Even though I don't sew I called my friend and asked if she could use them. She said grab some. I got a shopping bag full! If you want some let me know! If not I can always take them back to the recycle center!

Would you marry me again?

Patrick just stopped at the spot where he asked me to marry him. He asked, "Would you marry me, again?" I answered, "In a heartbeat!"

I have been so blessed over and over and over again because that man asked me to marry him 39 years ago last January.

I so love him!

We found a bunch of butterflies by the side of the road. After looking up why they could possibly be all in one jumble I found that Swallowtails gather together on dirt roads where it is damp to eat the salt and minerals in the dirt!

It was a beautiful sight.

Tent Yoga

Our screened tent was dancing in the wind all day. The wind was blowing so hard today I thought it would fly away. But it didn't.

Today was our day to cook. We are so glad we are done. We made French toast and bacon for breakfast. Chili on Fritos for lunch. Gnocci with sausage and peppers and onions, salad and cookies for dinner.

The weather has cooled down, the wind has died down and I am ready for bed. I love camping.
