Memorial Day

I suggest we pray for peace. These missile launches are very scary. North Korea is too close to Okinawa. This last one landed in the Sea of Japan. One a while back went over Okinawa.  Too close to Robbie and Alicia. I cannot imagine another war starting. Pray for peace.

Today is Memorial Day. May God bless those families of loved ones lost protecting our freedom. The saying, "Freedom is not free." Is true.

Big Day for Martha Street Market!

I am so excited - today is a big day - My sister, Kathy and my cousin, Mary Lynn are on their way here to edit Martha Street Market.  AND, my husband, Pat is on his way to his brother, Dan's, to drop off some pictures and description of what I would like for the cover of the book.

I can't wait to get started on this next phase of the book.  After we finish the first edit my friend, Kay, will do the next edit.  Then it goes to my sister, Jane.

I am blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful people in my life.  I'll take a picture and post it when we are editing.

Traverse City

On our way home from an overnight Trip to Traverse City. It was so refreshing.

We drove the two peninsulas and took lots of pictures of the last of the cherry blossoms. We saw hundreds of trilium. We even saw a fox run across the street in front of us in Sutton's Bay. It ran between a couple of houses.

We stayed at Cambria Suites. We had a free night from Choice Privileges. It was a nice hotel. Neither of us slept well though. We just couldn't get comfortable.

The restaurant was pricey, but we were there during happy hour and we had buy one get one beers for Pat.

We ordered whitefish pate that came with lox, capers and lightly pickled vegetables. It was delicious spread on bread. It looked small but it was more than enough with the burgers and fries we ended up ordering.

Breakfast was delicious. Egg white omelet filled with tomatoes and asparagus and topped with avocado.  It was served with a tomato and mozzarella salad drizzled with balsamic vinegar and foccaci toast and strawberries. Yum!

Then we drove around taking pictures for a couple hours. Ended up at Peninsula Cellars where we had a glass of wine and the snack plate. It was just the perfect afternoon on the patio.

We had a blast at the Saginaw Children's Zoo today. Pat, Caroline, Romeo, Tino and I went at 2:30. Jesse picked up Javier and Ayva from school and then they joined us.

There have been many improvements to the zoo. When you walk in, there is a red tailed hawk and an owl. In the gazeno you can see a deer. You can sit outside to watch the wolves. A big old crow screams at you.  The whole front area is so great now.

They loved the train and the carousel.

We left just before five and Tino was exhausted.

Polenta Pancakes

Oh Yum! Creamy deliciousness. I made enough pancakes for all week.

We love polenta - even those tubes found in the Italian section.

1 tube polenta - diced small
1 lemon Greek yogurt
1 box Jiffy corn mix
1 egg
Enough milk and bisquick for a thick consistency.

I'm sorry - Not much of a recipe - mix by looks.

I also used my medium ice cream scoop - perfect size.

Today I left 2 spots open on the grill. Made for easy flipping.

I put them in the microwave for 1 minute to get the middles done.

So delicious - with or without syrup. Forgot to take a picture until I started to eat.

Hold my thoughts

It is so easy to complain about people who think differently than I do. I need to practice keeping my mouth shut. No one needs to form bad opinions about others because I tell something that bothers me.

Please pray for me.
