Dinner with Friends

What an enjoyable evening! We talked, laughed, ate, drank and just plain loved being with all of you! There is nothing like an impromptu get together that goes right!

HOME SWEET HOME

We are so happy to be home! Look at our tree all beautiful and waiting for us when we drove in the driveway!

I am going to go through all the posts to switch out all the pictures from my Galaxy to the ones from our camera. So if you have been following our trip to Montana scroll down to see better pictures!

Day 11 - Woohooo On Our Way Home!

By this afternoon we will be home! I love traveling. Seeing new and exciting places. But I also love coming home.
We keep driving in and out of heavy fog. We just drove under a heavy line of fog. I've never seen anything like it.
This has been a great trip. I just want to sit in front of my Computer and make some changes to book one and three of the series I am working on now. Small misconceptions mostly about the Stillwater River in Montana.

Day 10 - Aaahhh. . .

Construction on the Mackinac Bridge caused us to have to drive about 10 mph. It was so fun! A freighter went right under US - so cool.

We Love Michigan

It is a beautiful day in the US! Short sleeves and windows open. Colors are just beginning up here.

We left Iron Mountain at 9:00. It took about an hour of driving before our time was DST.
We stopped in Manistique at the casino for an hour. Came out $110 ahead. So that will pay for our dinner tonight.

Lake Michigan is so blue and glistens like diamonds.

We will be home tomorrow - this has been a great trip.

Trees!

Glorious, big, fat, fluffy trees! How I love our neck of the woods!

Day 9 - Here We Come Michigan!

Have to say we can't wait to be back in Michigan! South Dakota was FLAT and very windy. Winds up to 30 mph!

We stayed in Sioux Falls last night. Not the greatest hotel, but the restaurant we found was fabulous! Johnny Carino's Italian restaurant. There is one in Brighton so I see a field trip coming up!

Day 8 - Good Morning Mt. Rushmore

We awakened to rainy skies in Hill City, SD. We decided we would ignore the 80% forecast and go to Mt. Rushmore.
Cloudy, cool and fabulous time to go - right when they open at 8:00 am. Hardly anyone else was here.
It was so majestic. Did you know that 90%of the sculpture was Don with dynamite? That astounds me!
On to the Black Hills!

We drove through the Big Horn Mountains - this was our favorite part of the trip.  It was so majestic.  We loved every minute of the Big Horn Mountains!

There were signs all over that said to watch out for open range areas where the cows and horses had the run of the land!

We took Joanna and Caroline here when they were 3 and 5!  They still remember the Flintstones!

I swear Crazy Horse looked just like this 30 years ago!

Day 7 - Goodbye Wyoming

We just saw five Pronghorns! I'll post pics on this post when we get home. They were fast sprinters.
The landscape as we drive is flat covered with scrubby plants. Mountains in the distance. Beautiful in its simplicity.
Going to wineries in the Black Hills this afternoon - rain predicted. Then Mt. Rushmore tomorrow.

Yellowstone

Thank goodness for Old Faithful! There is something so good about that Geyser being so reliable! Didn't see much else in Yellowstone. Buffalo and deer!
On to Mt. Rushmore.
